Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S26 range of flagship smartphones running One UI 8.5 version. The new One UI update will soon be available for more devices. The One UI 8.5 version brings a few new features, including one that improves fingerprint scanner recognition accuracy. It helps your device recognize your biometric data better, reducing the chances of failed scans when you try to access your phone.
One UI 8.5’s new feature improves the recognition accuracy of existing fingerprints
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 has introduced a handy new feature designed to make fingerprint recognition accuracy faster and more reliable. In the earlier versions of One UI, you could only add, rename, or delete your saved fingerprints.
However, the new “Improve accuracy” option allows you to enhance an existing biometric profile without starting from scratch.
Here’s how to improve fingerprint recognition accuracy in One UI 8.5
To access the new tool, go to Settings > Security and privacy > Screen lock and biometrics > Fingerprints. Now, confirm your current security pin or pattern. Tap any of the fingerprints and hit the “Improve accuracy” option. Choosing the option will prompt you to scan the same finger ten additional times.
This process helps the sensor capture more details of your print to create a more comprehensive map that minimizes recognition errors. This small functionality makes a huge difference in daily use as your phone becomes faster at recognizing your fingerprint. It is useful for unlocking your device faster, apart from opening secure apps or making payments.
For now, Samsung has limited the new fingerprint accuracy tool to the Galaxy S26 series of smartphones. Samsung is actively testing the One UI 8.5 update for older devices through a beta program. The brand could release the new One UI update with the fingerprint feature to eligible Galaxy phones and tablets in the coming weeks.
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update adds a new feature to improve fingerprint scanner accuracy, making device unlocking faster and more reliable for Galaxy users.
