According to a new report by Counterpoint Research, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series outsold the Galaxy S24 series of devices. The data is based on sales from February through December 2025, by the way.
The Galaxy S25 series managed to beat its predecessors in terms of sales
The Galaxy S25 series went on sale in February, and Counterpoint Research used data from that point until the end of the year. What’s the margin? Well, the Galaxy S25 series outsold its predecessors by 5% YoY (Year-over-Year), it is said.

Looking at the Galaxy S25 Ultra model only, it outsold the Galaxy S24 Ultra by 7% YoY. Later today, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is coming, and the company will be looking to improve upon last year’s sales, of course.
That won’t be an easy feat, however. The Galaxy S26 series, based on what we know thus far, won’t exactly be a huge upgrade over the Galaxy S25 phones. Samsung is not changing all that much, and that goes for both hardware and software. In all honesty, the same was the case last year, and yet the Galaxy S25 did really well for Samsung. So, who knows?
Counterpoint did say that the Galaxy S25 series had a weaker start to sales, but it gained traction. The Galaxy S25 Ultra sales in specific picked up pace mid-cycle, in July and October last year, particularly.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra was also one of the best-selling phones globally
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was so successful that it ended the year in the top 10 list of best-selling smartphone models for 2025. Apple’s iPhones once again dominated that list, though, with 7 entries. The remaining three were reserved for Samsung phones.
Samsung is looking to rely heavily on GenAI features, Counterpoint notes. Samsung Bixby and the Perplexity integration will lead the charge for GenAI on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra & Galaxy S25 were selling far better than the Galaxy S25+
With that being said, the source also released sales percentages from one Galaxy S25 model to the next, along with a comparison with their predecessors. You can see that in the image provided below.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for 46% of Galaxy S25 series sales, while the base model took 35% of the overall percenage. That leaves 19% for the Galaxy S25+ model, which we knew was not as popular as its siblings. Those percentages are actually really close to what we’ve seen from the Galaxy S24 series, as you can see.
