Just last month, Samsung announced that it was discontinuing its Galaxy Z TriFold device. Likely to focus on other foldables that are selling better, and preparing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide that’s launching this Summer.
So color me surprised when Samsung announced today that the Galaxy Z TriFold will be back in stock – both online and in-store – this Friday. That’s right, on April 10, you’ll be able to purchase the Galaxy Z TriFold once again from Samsung’s 7 Experience Stores or from Samsung.com.
It’s still quite pricey at $2,900, but this is more of a proof-of-concept device for Samsung. Proving that they can do a trifold device like Huawei. But it does make things quite confusing, considering Samsung announced that they were discontinuing it, instead of it just being a rumor.
Samsung is working on a Galaxy Z TriFold 2
Samsung is also working on a new Galaxy Z TriFold, though it’s unlikely that we’ll see it this year. Tipsters have reported that Samsung has approved the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 concept which will feature a refined hinge that is lighter and thinner than the original. And it’s set to launch around mid-2027.
It’s expected that the second-generation Galaxy Z TriFold would be about 9mm thick versus the 13mm for the current TriFold, really slimming down the folded thickness.
Of course, this isn’t the only concept that Samsung is working on. There’s also the Galaxy Z Slide, which is a sliding phone. This isn’t really new, as Samsung Display has been showing off concepts of a sliding phone for a few years now.
Of course, we can’t forget about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which is going to be a wider Galaxy Z Fold that is set to compete with the upcoming iPhone Fold. Thankfully, Samsung isn’t copying all of Apple’s products.
