The world of extended reality is heating up, and it looks like Samsung will get on board soon. The company has teased the device a couple of times in recent months. The demos confirmed the device’s design. Now, details have reportedly leaked regarding the launch and release dates for Samsung’s highly anticipated XR headset. The product promises to be a new, worthy contender to challenge Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
Samsung XR Headset launch date reportedly set for September 29
According to reports, Samsung’s XR headset has internal codenames like “Project Moohan” or “Project Infinite.” The latest report claims that the company will officially announce it on September 29, 2025. The announcement would take place at a special domestic Unpacked event in South Korea. For those eager to get their hands on it, the device is then expected to go on sale in South Korea shortly after, on October 13, 2025. Fortunately, fans and tech enthusiasts outside of Korea won’t have to wait too long. Its availability is slated to expand to global markets, including the USA, shortly after its initial domestic release.
This isn’t just another piece of hardware; it’s Samsung’s major entry into the XR space. What makes it particularly interesting is that the headset is reportedly being developed in close collaboration with Google. It will also mark the debut of the brand-new ‘Android XR’ platform on the market. This partnership could mean a rich ecosystem of apps and services from day one.
With this headset, Samsung aims to tackle some of the common hurdles in widespread reality. The list includes aspects such as comfort during extended use, the availability of attractive content, battery life, and powerful processing. To deliver an immersive experience, the device is expected to incorporate advanced features like AI capabilities, pass-through functions (allowing you to see your real surroundings), and multimodal sensors.
A potential new glimpse in July
Samsung’s alleged Unpacked event launch date for this XR headset is still a few months away. However, the firm is reportedly in the final stages of preparation. We might even get an early glimpse, as there are whispers of prototype showcases (like Project Moohan) and teaser videos during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025. During the latter, we will meet the brand’s next-gen foldable phones.
