Samsung is allegedly working on a new 200MP camera sensor for smartphones. That sensor will allegedly be called the ISOCELL HPC, and it will be a 1/1.3-inch type camera sensor.
As a reminder, the company developed the ISOCELL HPB sensor, which was used by the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro. It is a 1/1.4-inch type camera sensor. There’s also the older ISOCELL HP2 200MP camera sensor that is used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and will be used in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The ISOCELL HPC is Samsung’s upcoming high-end 200MP camera sensor
So, this new ISOCELL HPC camera sensor won’t necessarily be bigger than the company’s biggest offering, but it will include some new tech and will be a new high-end camera sensor from Samsung.
The information comes from a trusted source, Digital Chat Station. He’s one of the most prominent Chinese tipsters, which gives this rumor quite a bit of credibility.
This new camera sensor is said to feature UFCC aka Ultra Fine Color Filter. That tech was developed by Smasung in order to reduce thicknesss while improving light transmission and color purity.
The sensor is also expected to have ultra-high dynamic range. OPPO could be amongst the first companies to end up using this camera sensor, perhaps even in the upcoming OPPO Find X10 series, we’ll see.
We’re not sure when exactly this camera sensor will become available to companies, so we can only guess. Based on what was said, it could arrive at some point this year, we’ll see.
Both Sony & OmniVision announced truly compelling high-end camera sensors not long ago
Many camera flagship smartphones are using Samsung’s ISOCELL sensors for their periscope telephoto cameras, but not as much as main camera sensors. Do note that both Sony and OmniVision announced very compelling near 1-inch type high-end camera sensors towards the end of last year. So we’re expecting to see those in quite a few flagship phones as well.
