Samsung has quietly bumped up the price tags of certain Galaxy Z Fold 7 models in the US. That goes for the higher storage options of the phone, 512GB and 1TB variants, to be exact.
Some variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 now cost more in the US
Both 512GB and 1TB storage variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 now cost $80 more, while the price of the base 256GB storage options remains unchanged. This change is likely a reflection of rising component and memory costs.
Considering that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is far from being cheap in general, this sure is an unwelcome hit. The base 256GB storage option of the device starts at $2,000 in the US. The 512GB and 1TB storage variants were priced at $2,119 and $2,419.
Both of those higher storage variants are now more expensive, though Samsung did not release an announcement for the price bump. They now cost $2,200 and $2,500, respectively. Samsung is not the only one doing this, of course. Companies are no longer ready to fully absorb rising component costs.
Samsung did the same in its homeland earlier this month
It is worth noting that earlier this month, the company increased price tags for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 Edge in South Korea. That also goes for higher storage options, and the reason is probably the same as in the US.
We’ll see this trend continue in more markets, almost certainly. Rising component costs are affecting the entire planet, so… it only makes sense that we see price changes on a global scale, unfortunately.
It remains to be seen how this will affect the price tags of Samsung’s upcoming flagships. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the wider variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 are on their way. They’re still months away, but we’re not expecting component costs to go down in the meantime.
It is almost certain that all three of those phones will be more expensive than the current-gen models. Well, the wider variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the first of its kind, but it sure won’t be cheap.
