Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 9 later this year, which will be based on Android 17. And a build of this new software had leaked earlier this week, showing now much new with One UI. But there was a hidden app within One UI 9, called ‘Warranty & Care’.
This app is not visible in the app drawer, and had to be accessed using an activity launcher. But the app does act as a central hub for device support, apparently.
The app is going to allow users to check their phone’s warranty status, access self-diagnostic tools, and even view help guides. This sort of app has been available on a lot of other Android brand devices in the past few years. So it’s a little surprising it took Samsung this long to add their own.
Within this Warranty & Care app, you’ll also be able to see the phone’s repair history. This is going to add some transparency, especially for those buying or selling used devices. It will also be able to display repair cost estimates, allow service center reservations, and show real-time updates on repair status.
This whole app should make the repair experience of Samsung phones a lot more convenient and easier to track in the long-run.
Samsung will debut an AI chatbot for remote assistance
Finally, as if that wasn’t enough, Samsung is also adding an AI-powered chatbot and remote assistance within the app. This is designed to provide additional support when the user needs it.
This is still in the early stages, so it’s unclear if this will actually launch with One UI 9, or possibly a later software release. However, One UI 9 is expected to launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide later this summer.
