Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra a few weeks ago. These devices bring shiny new AI tools that, in most cases, are software-based. So, news about the company limiting the arrival of these features to Galaxy S25 devices generated backlash from the community. Well, it seems that the message clearly reached the company’s headquarters. Samsung has now confirmed that a significant portion of the Galaxy S26’s “advanced Galaxy AI” suite is indeed headed to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra via the One UI 8.5 update.
One UI 8.5 to bring Galaxy S26 AI features to last year’s S25 generation
According to official posts on the Samsung Community and Members forums, the gateway for these features will be the upcoming One UI 8.5 update (via SamMobile). It’s noteworthy that a specific release date remains under wraps. The company has characterized this as a major firmware step rather than a minor stability patch.
The highlight of the update is the AI-powered call screening feature that debuted with the S26. However, the “advanced” label suggests that more of the S26’s toolkit could be in the pipeline. Features like Agentic AI, Creative Studio, and the improved Audio Eraser are among the prime candidates for this expansion.
Samsung moderators explicitly thanked users for their feedback, acknowledging that the community’s persistent pressure influenced the decision. As usual, South Korean users were the first to see the official notice. However, global variants in the US and Europe are expected to follow shortly after the stable release of One UI 8.5. Be that as it may, Samsung now seems committed to delivering the full AI experience also to its flagships from last year.
