Samsung Is Pushing Foldable Display Tech Forward With ‘MONT FLEX’

Samsung has just announced ‘MONT FLEX’, its new brand for foldable displays. This announcement comes from Samsung Display, of course, and it could signal great things for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 next year.

This brand was announced at the K-Display 2025 Korea Display Exhibition. It is officially opening on August 7, but Samsung made the announcement early, which is not out of the ordinary.

‘MONT FLEX’ is here, Samsung’s latest foldable display tech

Samsung says that the ‘MONT FLEX’ name inspiration comes from the French word for ‘mountain’. It is supposed to represent the “pinnacle of foldable innovation” and embody the company’s “drive for the perfect foldable panel.”

The company also added that each letter of MONT stands for a key technology strength. M is for Mechanical durability, O is for Opto mechanically flat, N is for Narrow bezels, while T stands for Thin and lightweight design.

Samsung also noted that its foldable OLED is now in its seventh year of mass production. It’s well-known at this point and has proven itself in the market. The latest foldable OLED, used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, “delivers a slimmer and lighter design than previous models while remaining fully functional after 500,000 folds, reinforcing its exceptional durability,” Samsung says.

Through the launch of MONT FLEX, Samsung aims to “more actively communicate the unique value of its foldable OLED to both consumers and industry partners, while reinforcing its leadership in foldables as a key driver of future growth.”

Samsung wants to keep “pushing the boundaries”

Jae-Nam Yun, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Display Marketing Team at Samsung Display, said that the company will “continue pushing the boundaries to deliver even more refined foldable products that exceed market expectations.”

We’re expecting to see the MONT FLEX display in the company’s next-gen foldables in 2026. Samsung did not mention anything of the sort just yet, though, of course. We also don’t have much information about MONT FLEX either. Samsung will hopefully share more info in the coming days.
