Samsung is beginning to roll out the very first software update for the Galaxy S26 today, and it introduces the February 2026 security patch to the phone. The Galaxy S26 launches globally on March 11, and it’s already available for pre-order, as Samsung opened those up on February 25 following the official announcement.
With this being the case, Samsung is likely making sure that the update is ready in time for the phone’s official launch coming later this week. Since this is just a security patch, there aren’t going to be any major, sweeping changes to features, user interface, or anything like that. The update is all under the hood changes that keep the phone on the latest, most secure software, while also improving software stability. It’s not as exciting as a big update, but it’s still necessary. It’s also worth noting that this update isn’t rolling out globally at this time.
The first update for the Galaxy S26 is hitting devices in South Korea
Samsung is nothing if not predictable when it comes to releasing software updates. With that in mind, it’s reportedly believed that the update is making its way to devices in South Korea before hitting devices in other regions. This makes sense, as Samsung is based in South Korea.
If you happen to already have your Galaxy S26 series phone because you got it shipped early, or you plan to grab one this week, don’t expect to see this update yet if you aren’t based in South Korea. That being said, the update is rolling out on a Monday, so there is still a chance that by the end of the week, Samsung will have this pushed out to devices in other regions.
The software update in question is build number S94xNKSS1AZC7. According to Tarun Vats on X, who spotted the update (via SamMobile), it clocks in at around 557MB. It’s not tiny, but it’s nothing major either.
