One UI 8.5 stable, based on Android 16 QPR2, debuted with the Galaxy S26 series last month. The new version brings AI improvements, UI tweaks, and much more. The company has been beta testing it on the Galaxy S25 series for some time now. In fact, the lineup is now on its 6th beta version. It seems Samsung may soon extend the One UI 8.5 beta testing to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 7 may soon get One UI 8.5 beta
After the official firmware files for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 featuring One UI 8.5 were spotted on Samsung’s servers, the South Korean tech giant has now created the beta sections for the devices on its Community forum (via). This is a clear indication that Samsung is gearing up to launch the One UI 8.5 beta for its last year’s foldables soon.
However, what’s not clear at the moment is when the beta program will be officially announced. When it does announce, though, the beta testing should go on for a few weeks before the stable version hits the devices. This seems to be delaying things for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 foldables.Â

More customizations and new Bixby
One UI 8.5 focuses on organizing the interface, and there are now more customization options available. Photo Assistant offers continuous image generation without saving iterations each time. The Storage Share utility feature allows users to seamlessly access files across Samsung phones, tablets, and even Samsung TVs through the My Files app.Â
The Quick Settings panel is now fully customizable, where you can reorder, resize, or remove toggles. The lock Screen gets some refinements. Then there’s the Now Nudge feature, which offers real-time contextual suggestions based on the content on your screen. This aims to simplify tasks and improve productivity. Bixby gets natural-language smarter device controls and real-time web search powered by Perplexity.
