We know when Samsung will announce the Galaxy Watch 8, but when will the new smartwatch actually be released?
Samsung has scheduled Unpacked for July 9 in Brooklyn, it’ll start at 10AM ET/7AM PT, and that’s where Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Watch 8, along with a few other products like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Typically, Samsung has opened pre-orders immediately following Unpacked. We expect that to be around 12 noon on July 9, as the Unpacked keynote is typically just over an hour. Then, around a week and a half later, devices are available in stores, and sometimes get shipped out early. Which means we are likely looking at a Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Release Date of July 18. Of course, we’ll know more on July 9 when Samsung officially announces the Galaxy Watch 8 and other products.
What to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8
According to the leaks that we’ve seen, the Galaxy Watch 8 is set to get a redesign this year. It’ll sport a squircle design with a round watch on top of it, similar to what Samsung debuted with the Galaxy Watch Ultra last year. Otherwise, everything else should remain mostly the same for the Galaxy Watch 8 series.
Leaks do point to Samsung continuing to offer two sizes, in 40-41mm and 44-45mm. That would keep the base Galaxy Watch 8 models on the smaller side, compared to the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
It’s 2025, so we’re also expecting more AI features, even on the watch. While we don’t know what those might be just yet, we can expect them to be similar to what Apple has already unveiled. Like workout buddy, which will be part of watchOS 26 when that rolls out this Fall.
Samsung has also already announced a few features as part of One UI 8 Watch, which just opened its public beta today. This includes Running Coach, Bedtime Guidance, Antioxidant Index, and Vascular Load.
