The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will not deliver a significant display improvement, unfortunately. Well, at least if a well-known tipster, Ice Universe, is to be believed. He just shared some information about the whole situation.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t have a brighter display than its predecessor
The tipster says that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will offer the exact same peak brightness as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. In other words, it’ll come with a 2,600-nit peak brightness. That’s considerably lower than most of the competitors. It will still be more than enough, as it was on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but an improvement would be nice to see.
That peak display brightness has been around for years now on Samsung’s flagship. He also noted that the same brightness doesn’t necessarily mean that Samsung abandoned the new M14 material, but that “it does mean the S26 series won’t deliver any significant improvements in display quality.”
In fact, he said that he believes that Samsung will adopt the M14 material with this display, and polless screen technology. However, he said that he cannot guarantee that it will adopt 10bit technology and PWM high-frequency dimming. He added that he’s not too optimistic.
So, even though the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may bring some improvements to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display, it will not be a major jump forward. We’ll also be stuck with the same brightness.
Let’s hope PWM high-frequency dimming will be included, though it’s not likely
Let’s hope that Samsung will add proper PWM high-frequency dimming, though. That’s something that many companies have been offering for quite some time now, and it helps people who are sensitive to display flickering.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, as you may know, is expected to arrive in January next year. Rumors are all over the place, as some have mentioned February and March as launch months. However, January still seems like the most probable solution for Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will arrive alongside the company’s top-end flagship.
