It seems the season has finally opened for leaks about the Galaxy S26 series. In recent days, several key early details about these upcoming devices have been revealed. The most important has been the possible ditching of the base and “Plus” S26 models in favor of the “Pro” and “Edge” models. Now, a new report brings good news about the battery capacities of the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Edge.
Earlier reports suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely stick with its familiar 5,000 mAh battery—albeit with more powerful fast charging support. So, a potentially larger cell size for the other models is definitively something to note.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge battery capacity
This fresh information comes courtesy of the reliable source, GalaxyClub. According to the report, the Galaxy S26 Pro, which carries the codename M1 and model number SM-S942, is expected to house a battery with a rated capacity of 4,175 mAh. This translates to an advertised typical capacity of 4,300 mAh. For reference, the current base Galaxy S25’s battery has a typical capacity of 4,000 mAh. The new figure matches capacity found in Samsung‘s recently launched Galaxy Z Flip 7. Additionally, this battery size “confirms” that the S26 Pro will remain a compact phone.
Now let’s talk about the super slim Galaxy S26 Edge (codename M2, model number SM-S947). This particular model will feature a slightly smaller, yet still significantly improved, rated capacity of 4,078 mAh. This will result in an advertised typical capacity of 4,200 mAh. For reference, the current S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh typical capacity.
So, in both cases, we will probably find an increase of 300 mAh in capacity.
S26 Pro will remain a compact phone
It’s interesting that the Galaxy S26 Pro remains a compact phone. First, this is great news for those who love this type of device. On the other hand, it leaves the Edge model as the mid-range model in the series, for which users will be forced to sacrifice battery capacity. So, if you want a larger screen and battery, you’ll likely have to go for the more expensive Ultra model.
We’re still some time away from the official unveiling. The company is expected to announce the Galaxy S26 lineup around January 2026. However, these early battery leaks are certainly promising. Larger battery capacity has been a request from Galaxy S device fans for years. Considering the company also equips handsets with efficient 2nm chips, the brand’s future flagship mobile devices could offer the best battery life in the family ever.
