Samsung has just detailed its security update for February 2026, continuing its tradition of monthly patches for the Galaxy ecosystem. Security patches might not be as exciting as a new Android version or a flashy feature drop. However, they are key critical updates for your smartphone or tablet. This latest release focuses on tightening the defenses of dozens of models, from the latest foldables to older tablets.
The February patch addresses a total of 37 vulnerabilities. Samsung collaborated closely with Google to integrate 25 fixes that specifically target the Android operating system. Additionally, Samsung’s own engineering team developed 12 custom patches to fix issues unique to the One UI software.
What is inside Samsung’s February 2026 security update
The “Samsung-specific” fixes are particularly interesting this month. The company identified and patched several vulnerabilities in key system apps. For instance, developers improved the security of the Samsung Dialer and the Settings app to prevent unauthorized local access. They also reinforced the Emergency Sharing feature and the Knox Guard Manager to ensure that these safety and security tools function exactly as intended.
Your phone‘s biometric security also received some attention. The update includes refinements for both facial and fingerprint authentication systems. While these systems are already robust, these monthly tweaks help prevent sophisticated attempts to bypass your lock screen. Other technical fixes target the PACM module and various system services that run in the background.
When will your device get it?
As usual, Samsung plans to roll out this update in phases. We expect the latest flagship models, such as the Galaxy S26 and the newest Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series, to receive the notification first. Mid-range devices and older tablets will follow shortly after. Most Galaxy devices running Android 14 through Android 16 are eligible for these fixes, though a few older models still on Android 13 will also receive a specific patch.
To check if the update is ready for your device, you can head to your settings and look for the software update section. It is always a good idea to install these patches over a stable Wi-Fi connection. While your phone might look the same after the reboot, these 37 fixes work behind the scenes to keep your personal data secure for another month.
