In what has become a yearly tradition for Samsung, the company’s social media team is mocking Apple about iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
Samsung Mobile US tweeted out “Customizable apps? Floating bars? That sleek glass UI? Looks… familiar” with a thinking emoji at the end. Now, the first two, sure, Samsung has done those already. But a sleek glass UI? I can’t remember Samsung ever doing that. Maybe this is a preview of what’s to come in One UI 9 next year?
Keep in mind that Samsung generally mocks Apple about something, then does it themselves within the next year. Like when Apple got rid of the headphone jack. Or the Galaxy Buds 3 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra from last year being almost identical copies of Apple’s products.
Why does Samsung mock Apple during its biggest event?
So why does Samsung continue to mock or troll Apple during its biggest event (technically second biggest behind the iPhone) of the year? For attention. Apple’s WWDC gets far more viewers than any other developer conference.
Just for some perspective, Apple’s WWDC 2024 keynote has 12 million views, while Google I/O 2024 keynote has 2.3 million. Huge difference there. And a big reason for that is the fact that Apple uses their keynote to appeal to consumers instead of just developers. While Google is more about developers from the start.
Samsung, as well as other OEMs all like to mock Apple during events like WWDC and the iPhone launch in the fall. So while Samsung isn’t alone, they are definitely the biggest voice mocking Apple.
