Samsung may have issues with the S Pen that’s intended for use with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, at least if a new rumor turns out to be accurate. The Galaxy Z Fold series may not have an S Pen storage slot like the Galaxy S Ultra line. It does have compatibility with the S Pen, though, and has for a few generations. That compatibility is unlikely to go away, but it might not be available right at launch when Samsung releases the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That being the case, potential buyers who look forward to S Pen support right out of the box might have to contend with a wait. However, it’s unclear at this time if this is actually going to happen.
Samsung may have run into issues with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 S Pen
It’s worth remembering that this is just a rumor. So, with that in mind, take this with a grain of salt. There’s not a lot of detail about the potential issues at the moment. Having said that, this rumor comes from @PandaFlashPro on X. PandaFlash has been the center of past rumors, which have panned out. So, this one shouldn’t be immediately dismissed.
According to PandaFlash, Samsung has “run into some issues with an ‘unknown’ S Pen and has stopped production.” This may or may not be the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s possible that it could be the S Pen meant for Samsung’s next Galaxy S Ultra. Which, at this point, would be the Galaxy S26 Ultra that would launch early next year.
Another rumor has said that Samsung removed the S Pen digitizer from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This could be the cause of the issues that Samsung is said to be facing. By removing the digitizer, Samsung is said to have needed to implement S Pen compatibility with different technology. By placing this new challenge in front of itself, it may have created yet another obstacle.
SamMobile reports that Samsung may have removed the S Pen digitizer as a means of slimming down the device. Neither rumor has been confirmed yet.
