The Realme GT 8 series debuted in October last year, and included the vanilla and GT 8 Pro models. Besides being performance monsters, courtesy of Snapdragon 8 Elite/ 8 Elite Gen 5, the phones also offer superior camera hardware. In fact, the Realme GT 8 Pro was the first phone from the brand to feature a 200MP main camera. A new rumor on the block hints that the successor will take things up a notch. The Realme GT 9 series camera details have surfaced on Weibo.
Realme GT 9 Pro camera details leak: dual 200MP?
The trend of 200MP cameras is catching up, with most brands leaning towards offering dual 200MP cameras for their ultra-flagships down the year. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra are expected to feature two 200MP cameras. It seems Realme wants to join the race. Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu claims that Realme is currently leaning towards a dual 200MP camera setup for the Realme GT 9 lineup. This is to push the imaging performance further.
The Realme GT 9 Pro may feature dual 200MP sensors, likely for the main and periscope telephoto cameras. Meanwhile, the vanilla Realme GT 9 may get a single 200MP sensor to differentiate it from the Pro model. To recall, the vanilla Realme GT 8 came with a 50MP + 8MP + 50MP triple camera setup. So a 200MP main camera will be a significant upgrade.

Prices may go up
The leak further suggests that Realme’s partnership with Ricoh will offer deeper tuning for an enhanced camera experience. With such improved hardware and rising component costs, the Realme GT 9 prices may go up. Then again, this could be a trend among other flagships launching later this year.
Beyond the camera details, not much is known about the Realme GT 9 series at the moment. Much like the predecessors, the Realme GT 9 lineup may also offer superior performance. We’ll probably see the Realme GT 9 Pro featuring Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6/ Gen 6 Pro, while the Realme GT 9 could get Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
