Now that Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, realme is officially taking the wraps off of its next flagship device with the launch of the GT 8 Pro. The realme GT 8 Pro was recently teased by the company on its official Weibo page. The company also teased a launch in China in October. Now, realme is confirming that the GT 8 Pro will be expanding to the global market soon.
In addition to details of the global expansion, realme is also confirming another detail about the upcoming device. According to the company, the GT 8 Pro boasts an AnTuTu benchmark score of 4,000,000. That’s not a typo. It’s a massive number and surely impressive for a device that is designed to be more affordable compared to flagships from bigger brands. This is thanks in large part to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it also showcases realme’s commitment to producing a high-performance phone.
The global launch of the realme GT 8 Pro doesn’t have a specific date
While realme is confirming the global launch and that it’s coming soon, it hasn’t given a specific date. All that’s clear at the moment is that it’s sometime in the near future. This could mean sometime in October, although the launch could be further out too.
This is the second realme GT phone to be the first with Qualcomm’s flagship chip in the global market
When it comes to high performance on phones, Qualcomm’s flagship chipset is usually the chipset people have in mind. Qualcomm makes this evident with some stats it shared during Snapdragon Summit, where it noted that high-end phone users are willing to pay 95% more for their next device to have a Snapdragon chip than low-tier users.
This just demonstrates that the flagship Snapdragon platform for mobile devices is highly sought after. To that end, realme has been the first company to launch a device in the global market with this chipset for two years in a row now. First with the Snapdragon 8 Elite in 2024 powering the GT 7 Pro, and now with the GT 8 Pro and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It likely won’t be the only device using this chip in the global market for long. There’s no exclusivity for realme here. It is, however, working fast to be first out of the gate. That’s great for realme fans.
