(NEXSTAR) — Controversial rapper and social media personality Azealia Banks, who has been an avid supporter of President Trump since his first term, is calling his current presidency “an absolute disaster.”
Banks, who has since switched her account to private, wrote on X: “Ok I think it’s time everyone who voted for Trump admit that we made a f—–g mess. Like this is an absolute disaster.”
The artist, these days most known for her posts and videos on social media, previously called Trump her “hero” and notably attended a Florida Trump rally late last year. Banks, 33, has criticized the second Trump administration for its close relationship with Elon Musk, whom she’s previously feuded with and said “belongs nowhere near American Politics.”
On Wednesday, Banks continued her critique of Trump and his White House, writing on X: “He’s so petty and vindictive right now… Nobody on Earth is afraid of crazy old white man anger. Old white men need to reinvent the archetype because it’s too predictable. Like China is just DUNKING on everyone right now.”
Banks rose to fame in 2011 with the release of debut single “212,” which continues to be widely considered among the best and most influential songs of the 2010s. The rapper’s career, however, has been mired in controversy as she has made so many offensive comments and picked so many beefs with other celebrities that many have even compiled Azealia Banks Feud lists to keep track.
It’s unclear what specifically inspired Banks’s Wednesday posts, though the rapper has since gone private on X.
Nexstar has reached out to Banks for comment.
