- Production will begin in 2028 with ICE and range-extended powertrains.
- Ram will also launch two new SRT models, including a TRX successor.
Earlier this month, Stellantis announced plans to build an all-new large SUV at the Warren Truck Plant. The company didn’t say much about the model, but revealed it would be offered with an internal combustion engine as well as a range-extended powertrain.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2028 and it sounded like this would be the next-generation Jeep Grand Wagoneer or a twin of that model. It now appears the latter scenario was correct as Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has confirmed a large Ram SUV is coming soon.

Speaking during the company’s third quarter shipments and revenues call, Filosa discussed their $13 billion investment in the United States. While he largely rehashed what we already knew, the executive said Ram’s year-to-date sales are up 26% and the new investment will fuel continued growth.
As Filosa explained, “We are putting in place a much more comprehensive product range.” This includes a return to the mid-size truck and large SUV segments by 2028. The former is the highly anticipated Dakota successor, while the latter could be a proper Ramcharger, now that the name has been freed up.
What’s Next from SRT?

If that wasn’t exciting enough, Filosa revealed “Ram will be showing even more of its trademark passion with two new SRT performance products.” These will be unveiled in the coming months and one is likely the TRX successor.
Previous reports have suggested the truck could go into production early next year and it will presumably have a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with at least 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. However, if Ram wants to beat the F-150 Raptor R, they’ll have to exceed 720 hp (537 kW / 730 PS).

The second SRT variant is more mysterious, but Filosa mentioned “utterly distinct value propositions.” This suggests the other model could be far more affordable than the TRX.
We can envision a couple of scenarios including the Ram 1500 RHO becoming an SRT variant. There’s also the possibility that the company is working on a dedicated street truck similar to the Dude concept that will be unveiled at SEMA.
