R.D. Olson Construction has completed Kettner Crossing, a $30-million affordable housing complex in San Diego, for developer BRIDGE Housing. The urban infill project will provide 64 units to seniors who earn between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income (AMI).
Located at 1590 Kettner Blvd., the eight-story housing complex was built with four stories of structural Type I concrete podium and an additional upper four levels of Type V wood-frame construction. Kettner Crossing also includes a subterranean basement for parking, which was created through below-grade construction with the incorporation of 84 caissons for durable support.
“Kettner Crossing was a unique opportunity to show how urban infill projects can transform lives,” said Bill Wilhelm, president of R.D. Olson. “As affordable housing is in significant demand in the San Diego region, Kettner Crossing will provide durable housing that will support tenants for decades to come.”
