
LG Energy Solution Ltd.’s (LGES) battery factory in Queen Creek is preparing to open next summer. The Phoenix Business Journal reports that the $3.2 billion battery factory will open in the summer of 2026.
The company expects the one-million-square-foot battery manufacturing plant northeast of Ironwood and Germann roads to create 1,500 new employment opportunities. The facility is 60% completed. A highly touted different factory working on energy storage systems has been put on hold.
The facility is expected to produce batteries to supply Rivian Automotive Inc.’s R2 model vehicles, which are built at its Illinois manufacturing plant.
This year, the company partnered with Honeywell for the facility’s building automation technologies LGES recently agreed to a $4.3 billion deal to produce energy storage system batteries for Tesla Inc.
LG Energy Solution is a global manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, mobility, IT, and energy storage systems.Â
