Porsche Customers Gain Access to Tesla Superchargers
Porsche has done more than most legacy automakers to prove that an electric vehicle can be an exciting option. The Taycan is one of the earliest premium EVs to challenge Tesla, with renown not limited to design but also in terms of performance, in a way that made the car feel like a true Porsche rather than just a compliance project. The new Macan Electric continues that effort, positioning itself as a driver-focused alternative in the compact luxury SUV space.
Yet even as Porsche pushes performance benchmarks, it faces a reality that no amount of engineering can fully solve on its own: charging. Tesla’s Supercharger network has long been the gold standard in public fast charging, offering greater reliability and consistency than rival providers. That advantage is so entrenched that Porsche itself is now joining the network rather than attempting to replicate it.

Customers Will Use Tesla’s App First
Starting September 9, 2025, Porsche customers in North America will have access to more than 23,500 Tesla Superchargers. The rollout begins with a soft launch that requires drivers to download and register on the Tesla app to enable charging.
Over time, the system will be integrated into Porsche’s own digital ecosystem, allowing activation through the My Porsche app and eventually enabling plug-and-charge capability. Access is made possible through the Porsche-supplied NACS DC adapter, which enables the Taycan and Macan Electric to connect with Tesla’s NACS/J3400 cables.
The adapter policy varies by model year. All 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric vehicles will include it at no extra cost. Model year 2025 Taycan owners and current Macan Electric drivers will also receive the adapter free of charge via a reservation process through the My Porsche app. Taycan owners from model year 2024 and earlier can purchase the adapter for $185 from Porsche’s online store or through dealerships.

Updates and Future Integration
Obviously, Porsche’s NACS integration is a phased rollout rather than a complete handoff. Porsche will expand functionality over the coming months, giving customers access to more seamless charging solutions.
Charge planning will also be improved through complementary software updates. All 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric models will ship with navigation features that automatically incorporate additional charging stations. The 2024 and 2025 Macan Electric models will gain the same functionality by the end of this year, with Taycan models from 2025 and earlier receiving updates thereafter.
