The Google Pixel 10 Pro is basically the latest phone Google released in 2025. It’s supposed to pack the best and latest hardware. Unfortunately, multiple posts on Reddit have revealed that there is an annoying display glitch on the Pixel 10 Pro that makes the phone hard to use due to the screen constantly flickering.
Users report display glitch on the Pixel 10 Pro
According to posts on Reddit, this Pixel 10 Pro display glitch seems to happen when the phone is locked or when on the home screen. However, whenever users launch apps or start playing videos on YouTube, it goes away.
One post was a bit more specific, saying that they noticed a small flickering black square at the top of the screen. The poster suspects that this is where the proximity sensor is, and other comments have chimed in, echoing the same thing. They note that this issue comes and goes. Other users report a temporary fix when they restart their phones, but the problem comes back later.
Others suspect that the ambient sensor has gone haywire, activating when it’s not supposed to. Some also speculate that maybe the type of screen protector used could be related. However, given the number of reports, it seems unlikely it’s a screen protector issue. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say if this is a hardware or software glitch. If it is a hardware issue, fixing it will be troublesome. If it’s software related, a patch should address the problem. But for now, Google hasn’t said anything yet.
Unfortunate, this isn’t Google’s first rodeo
The sad thing about this is that this problem with the Pixel 10 isn’t Google’s first run-in with display-related issues. We can date this back to the Pixel 2 XL in 2017, where users reported the phone showing a blue tint at lower angles compared to other phones. Users also discovered the display suffered early burn-in, black smears, and washed-out colors.
Then, the Pixel 3 series right up to the Pixel 7 series all suffered from various instances of green tinting. For the Pixel 8, the issue was worse. Some users reported screen flickering issues, pink vertical lines, and a green haze that covered the entire display. This led to Google launching an Extended Repair Program.
You would think Google fixed this with the Pixel 8, but unfortunately, it persisted to the Pixel 9 series. Google had to once again launch an Extended Repair Program. This is an annoying pattern, and given how much we rely on our screens, you’d think this is an area Google would at least try and get right.
