This time around, we’ll be comparing two brand new flip style foldable smartphones. We’ll be comparing the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 specs. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is technically newer, as it was announced last month. Motorola’s offering was presented back in April. Either way, both of these phones are current-gen foldables, and both are high-end devices, not to mention great offerings from their respective companies.
They are similar in some ways, while being different in others. In this article, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. We will, however, kick things off by listing the specs of both smartphones. Those spec sheets, as you’ll see, are quite appealing. With that being said, let’s get to it, shall we?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Design
Both of these phones have a frame made out of aluminum. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 includes a glass back, while the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 opts for a silicone polymer back. For that reason, Motorola’s handset is less slippery by a mile. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a flat frame all around, while the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025’s is not exactly flat. It’s slightly rounded. Both phones do feature rounded corners, though.
Both phones have a main foldable display with a centered display camera hole up top. Power/lock and volume rocker buttons sit on the right-hand side of both devices. Their placement is also quite similar, and the buttons are clicky on both phones. You’ll also notice a quite spacious cover display on both devices. Both of those displays go over the rear cameras and have rather thin bezels around them. Granted, the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s bezels are slightly thinner.
You’ll notice that the rear camera placement is also quite similar. Both phones have rear cameras in the top-left corner, and they sit side-by-side, horizontally. An LED flash sits on the right side of those cameras on both smartphones. Both devices are also IP48 certified for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is shorter, wider, and thinner than the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, while it’s also 11 grams lighter.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Display
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a 6.9-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main display. That panel supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It also supports HDR10+ content and offers a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 21:9. A resolution of 2520 x 1080 is on offer here. The cover display, on the other hand, measures 4.1 inches, and it’s a Super AMOLED panel. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The resolution of 1048 x 948 is on offer, while the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this display.

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 has a 7-inch main display. It’s a Foldable LTPO AMOLED display which can project up to 1 billion colors. It has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 165Hz. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The peak brightness is 4,500 nits, in theory. The screen-to-body ratio here is around 84%. We’re looking at a resolution of 2912 x 1224 pixels. The cover display measures 4 inches, and it’s an LTPO AMOLED panel, which can also project up to 1 billion colors. Dolby Vision is supported here too, while the refresh rate goes up to 165Hz. HDR10+ content is on offer too, and the peak brightness is 3,000 nits, in theory. The resolution this display offers is 1080 x 1272. It’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Ceramic.
All four of these displays are really good, actually. They’re vivid, sharp, and have great viewing angles. The touch response is also really good, while the blacks are as deep as you’d expect them to be. Motorola’s handset does offer a higher refresh rate, but that’s not something you’ll notice, as most of the time it’ll run at 120Hz regardless. That 165Hz refresh rate can kick in with some games, however. All four panels do get bright enough when you need them to. The crease control is really good on both ends.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is fueled by the Exynos 2500 processor, a 3nm chip. That chip is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while the phone uses UFS 4.0 flash storage. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, on the flip side, is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 3nm processor as well. That chip is more powerful than the Exynos 2500. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and uses UFS 4.0 flash storage. The storage is non-expandable here, as it is in the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
With that being said, the day-to-day performance is great on both smartphones. Yes, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is technically more powerful, but that’s not something you’ll end up noticing in your daily usage. It may be able to open an app slightly faster, but you’ll need to use them side-by-side to notice. Both phones deliver great performance, and you won’t have any complaints in that regard.
If you’re aiming to play a lot of games, however, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is likely the better choice of the two. Not only does it offer more prowess in terms of CPU and GPU, but it also comes with more RAM for games. It will be more future-proof in that regard. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 does a fine job of running games too, though.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Battery
Samsung’s handset includes a 4,300mAh battery on the inside. Motorola opted for a 4,700mAh battery, a larger battery pack. Yes, the Razr Ultra 2025 has a larger battery life, and yes you’ll notice that difference. In fact, that phone does offer a lot better battery life, even though the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is quite good in that regard. While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 peaked at around 7 hours of screen-on-time for us, often going below that point. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 flew well above that point.
Your mileage may vary, though, of course. You will use your phone in a different way, with different apps, and different signal strengths. We did not really play a lot of games on either phone, we only did it for testing purposes. We did not baby either phone, though, and did put them through their paces.
What about charging? Well, that’s another area where the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 has the edge. It supports 68W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 can be fully charged in an hour and a half, it takes the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 half that time, it can charge all the way up to 100% in only 45 minutes. Neither phone ships with a charger in the box, though.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Cameras
Both phones include two cameras on the back. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.57-inch sensor size), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV). The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size), along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (122-degree FoV).

Both phones have a rather capable main camera, while their ultrawide cameras are rather forgettable. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 does provide images that are closer to real life. The shots from the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are more saturated more often than not, it has a different style to its photos. That’s not a bad thing, though, it’s all a matter of preference. Both phones do a fine job in low-light, but not to the degree of the best smartphone cameras on the market.
Neither phone ships with a telephoto or a periscope telephoto camera, unfortunately. Don’t expect great things in the zoom department. Their selfie cameras are fine, but also nothing to write home about. Chances are you’ll be using the rear cameras for selfies either way, as there’s a display there.
Audio
Both phones do ship with stereo speakers, and both sets are loud enough. They’re not the loudest out there, but they’re loud enough. The quality of audio output is also good enough, there’s nothing to worry about.
There is, however, no audio jack on either phone, but that’s not exactly surprising in this day and age. You can always use a dongle and connect your headphones to the Type-C port that is included on both phones.
