Channel Your Inner Han: VeilSide RX-7 Heads to Auction
Tokyo drift is and always will be a favorite among enthusiasts. Car nerds and movie buffs around the world were quite impressed when the third installment of the Fast and Furious franchise premiered back in 2006. Perhaps what we were more concerned about than the plot itself was Han’s death, his bright orange RX-7, the dark green Mustang, and the poor old Mitsubishi Evo IX.
Mecum
Words cannot express how the franchise impacted car culture globally. Every gearhead, budding or otherwise, who left after the screening must have pictured themselves driving Han’s beloved JDM hardware. If you’ve ever had the dream running in your head, here’s Mecum with a solution.
While it may not be the original VeilSide RX-7, Mecum’s readying an honest replica for the auction block. Every detail is exactly the same as the movie car, except for one thing—it’s left-hand drive. We reckon it only makes the RX-7 experience even more accessible, making it less stressful to drive on American roads.
Lots of Mods, Well-Documented and Maintained
As for the build, Mecum confirms that the auction-ready RX-7 features a genuine VeilSide Fortune body kit. Not only that, but Mazda’s 13B twin-rotor Wankel engine was professionally rebuilt, and now features a BorgWarner EFR turbo, a Haltech 1500 ECU with custom wiring, a Turblown intake manifold, and a GReddy V-mount intercooler.

Inside, the car gets Haltech’s iC-7 digital dash display in addition to a U.S.-spec head unit with Bluetooth and a backup camera. That’s not all, the air conditioning system has been overhauled with an upgraded compressor and condenser combo. Plus, it now uses a R134a refrigerant. Other things of note include a Mazda Nardi steering wheel and brand-new speakers.

Exterior-wise, the RX-7 sits on a set of custom three-piece BC Forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. You’ll also find Fortune Auto coilovers, cross-drilled rotors, and Goodridge stainless steel brake lines included in the package. Any build of this nature is not complete without an exhaust, and this RX-7 does it right, featuring a MagnaFlow resonated midpipe with a Revel Medallion system backing it.
The auction goes live on Saturday, November 15, in Las Vegas. There’s no price listed on Mecum’s website, but since original movie cars can go for crazy money, this RX-7 replica should be a relative bargain—or so we think.
