OURA, the company behind one of the most popular smart rings globally, has signed a fresh multi-year agreement with RingConn and OMATE that could reshape the wearable ecosystem. The company had struck a deal with Circular last, and now it has signed two major deals. These moves signal OURA’s commitment to lead and innovate the smart ring space.
OURA and RingConn resolve patent disputes peacefully
After several rounds of talks, OURA and RingConn have officially ended their ongoing patent disputes in the United States. Both companies have settled the issue through a new licensing agreement. As per the new deal, RingConn can continue to sell its smart rings and companion app while paying royalties to OURA. Financial terms, however, are kept private by both sides.
OURA’s chief legal advisor, Avonte Campinha-Bacote, says that the company has always wanted to advance the preventive health technology and protect innovations without stifling others in the market. “OURA is always open to collaborating with the brands that respect the intellectual property laws,” adds the legal advisor.
OMATE joins OURA’s expanding licensing agreement
After settling the disputes with RingConn, OURA has partnered with OMATE. Both companies have signed an agreement that grants OMATE access to key design and sensor innovations. This will ensure that OMATE’s smart rings remain up-to-date with the latest industry standards and are developed ethically. The move also provides OMATE with the technical foundation to compete confidently in an increasingly crowded field.
For OURA, licensing with OMATE and RingConn reflects a broader goal of nurturing a cooperative smart ring ecosystem. Industry experts see this as a turning point where brands can collaborate and share their ideas responsibly. The agreements also strengthen consumer trust by encouraging transparency and fair business practices.
