The OPPO Find N6 foldable will debut on March 17th, which is just one week away. As the launch inches closer, OPPO is revealing newer details of the phone, building up the anticipation. Though the design is almost identical to Find N5, OPPO is making it up with a much-needed upgrade to the display. The company is making tall claims about how the crease is unnoticeable. Today, OPPO is sharing more details about the Find N6’s crease-free display.
OPPO Find N6’s crease-free display details
In the new teasers, OPPO claims it achieved the first “zero-feel crease” thanks to the new updated hinge and all-new auto-smoothing Flex Glass. It goes without saying that the hinge is the most important hardware part on a foldable. OPPO is bringing a new 2nd-generation Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is apparently made using a liquid 3D printed component.
The process begins with precise laser scanning to create a high-fidelity model for each surface of the hinge. Then, it moves to the liquid 3D printing phase, where OPPO uses tiny photopolymer resin droplets to fill uneven spots. This method reportedly eliminates any structural irregularities at a microscopic level. Each layer of the hinge is solidified instantly with UV light.
No visible crease even after over 600,000 folds
OPPO says the hinge and wing plates are made from Grade-5 titanium alloy. The wider waterdrop design increases the folding radius, while also reducing pressure on the display. OPPO is also bringing an updated carbon fiber support plate for better strength and durability.
The company is not just addressing the hinge; it’s also tackling the “creep,” a problem where the internal layers of the folding screen shift over time, leading to a deeper crease along the folding screen. OPPO says its Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass is 50% thicker than Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), making it more durable and resistant to deformations.
This will apparently provide superior elasticity, preventing any deformations and helping it achieve much higher shape recovery. OPPO says that it has tested this alongside TUV Rheinland, which reveals that the Find N6’s hinge and Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass help reduce long-term crease depth by 80% compared to the Find N5. OPPO notes that the Find N6’s display remains flat with no visible crease even after over 600,000 folds.
