Artificial Intelligence (AI) is embedding itself into everyday technology. Modern smartphone OS, tools, and search — all are now powered by AI. ChatGPT was one of the major players behind the surge of the AI wave. The parent of ChatGPT, OpenAI, is now planning to disrupt the online recruitment and hiring system by launching its own AI-powered jobs platform.
OpenAI’s new job platform could disrupt the online recruitment and hiring system.
LinkedIn has a monopoly when it comes to online recruitment and job platforms. Sure, regional platforms do exist, but they’re nowhere close to LinkedIn on the global stage. However, it is now getting a fierce competitor very soon. OpenAI has revealed its new project, called the OpenAI Jobs Platform, which might change the way we look at online hiring systems.
Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, has shared an intriguing announcement on the official blog. He highlights how AI can act as a bridge between employers and job seekers. The CEO shares the company’s vision of making hiring more precise by aligning the organisational requirements with the unique, skilled individuals on a platform.
The platform is scheduled for launch in mid-2026
OpenAI’s new jobs platform will be officially launched in mid-2026. The CEO, while confirming the launch timeline, adds that the service will not only benefit large businesses but will also carve out dedicated pathways for small businesses and startups.
Alongside the new jobs platform, OpenAI plans to offer AI certification programs under its academy. The company has partnered with Walmart and has set a target of certifying 10 million Americans by 2030. This plan aligns well with the White House’s demand to raise AI literacy among U.S. citizens.
The new job’s platform of OpenAI will inevitably put itself in direct competition with the Microsoft-owned LinkedIn. Ironically, Microsoft remains the biggest financial investor in OpenAI. The co-founder of LinkedIn was also one of OpenAI’s earliest backers.
