Samsung is starting to bring its latest mobile software to more devices. As expected, the firm began the rollout of Android 16-based One UI 8.0 on flagship devices such as the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, in addition to some foldables. Now, the biggest update is reaching out to one of its most popular affordable smartphones. More specifically, Samsung has officially released the stable version of One UI 8 to the Galaxy A36.
Samsung Galaxy A36 users in South Korea are the first to receive the update. This is a big deal, as it’s the first major Android OS update for the phone.
Samsung Galaxy A36 gets its first major Android 16 update: One UI 8
The One UI 8 update for the Samsung Galaxy A36 comes with firmware version A366NKSU2BYI9. It also includes the latest September 2025 security patch. It’s an early release, as Samsung had originally planned to launch the stable version for both the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56 in October. This earlier-than-expected rollout is good news for users eager to get their hands on the new features.
One UI 8 brings a number of new features and design changes to the Galaxy A36. You can expect to see a more intuitive user interface for apps like Quick Share, Samsung Internet, and My Files, all of which have received a redesign. The update also focuses on personalization, with new options for UI customization. There is also an adaptive lock screen clock style that adds a nice touch to the device.
Beyond the aesthetics, the update also includes improvements to privacy and security. As is often the case, some of the more advanced AI features from the flagship Galaxy devices are not included. However, the update still brings a lot of value and a refreshed feel to the affordable phone.
As previously stated, the update is currently only available in South Korea. Once it reaches your region, you can check for it by going to Settings, then Software Update, and tapping on Download and Install. You may even receive an availability notification before the manual check.
Fortunately, this is just the beginning for the Galaxy A36, as Samsung has promised that the phone will receive five more major Android OS updates in the future, giving users long-term support.
