Samsung is adding new scheduling options to routines in One UI 8.5. In addition to triggers and actions, you can now set an end time so the routine stops automatically when you want it to. There’s now reportedly a new “Keep routine until” field in the routine interface within One UI 8.5. This seems aimed at making things more convenient for users.

As spotted by Android Authority, the default option in the new “Keep routine until” interface is “Forever.” However, there are other options to have the routine run only once or keep it active until a specific date. Selecting the latter would open a calendar view asking you to select an end date for the routine.
The report notes that this new ‘routines’ menu seems to be available for all routines created in One UI 8.5, except for those that are triggered manually. This new addition to routine can be quite handy if you’re looking to create a routine that’s only good for a limited period or even a single time, where you can set it to run only once.

As said, users will now be able to set expiration dates to routines created on Galaxy devices running the latest One UI 8.5. This feature is present on the Galaxy S26 devices running stable One UI 8.5. Additionally, the report confirms that it’s also available on Galaxy S25 devices running One UI 8.5 beta.
Speaking of beta, Samsung silently launched the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. However, it’s only available in select regions at the moment. After weeks of beta testing, the stable version based on Android 16 QPR2 will be out for the foldables. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 device may receive a stable update in the near future. However, the exact timeline for it is not out yet.
