The Ford Maverick has been a runaway success for the Blue Oval, and rival automakers are clearly taking notice. Among them is Nissan, which has previously hinted at launching a pickup smaller than its midsize Frontier – potentially for the US market and possibly featuring an electric or hybrid powertrain. The company even previewed such a vehicle in 2021 with the Surf-Out Concept, an electric truck that could appeal to both lifestyle buyers and light-duty users if brought to production.
