- Nissan to unveil the next-generation Elgrand and all new Ariya at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo
- This is all a part of Nissan’s greater Re:Imagine strategy
- The show is to present new Nissan ideas about mobility, connectivity and refinement
As technology goes, you can guarantee that if a Japanese motor show is taking place, the show will be at the absolute pinnacle. This is exemplified further when considering Japanese manufacturers taking the opportunity in their home country to show off, flex their muscles, and wow the world with what may become mainstream in coming years. So from the end of the month to the second week of November, the Japan Mobility Show is taking place in Tokyo. And Nissan are making every effort to rock the world with the plethora of new models, updates, and thrilling technology, where they want to exemplify how applicable their future vehicles are to all customers.

But Didn’t They Just End The Ariya?
It is a mere few weeks since Nissan announced that the Ariya was being removed from the US line-up. Only two years since its inception, it was being sidelined in order to prepare for the 2026 launch of the Leaf in its third-generational guise. From October 29 at the Japan Mobility Show, the Leaf will indeed be front and center, and no doubt will grab the attention of many journalists and photographers considering the popularity of the previous generation models.
However, it is with some surprise that the recently discontinued Ariya EV crossover in the US market is being refreshed for the Japanese market in early 2026. It seems that some manufacturers are sticking to their own markets for launches, or even building cars just for a certain Chinese market, and here we have such an example. Whether this is expanded to the wider world remains to be seen; however, greater design refinement, infotainment powered by Google, and Vehicle-to-Load (powering systems with the car’s electric output), should make this new incarnation rise to a whole new stratosphere of technology.
What Else Is Nissan Unleashing?
The Ariya is only part of the sheer expanse of announcements that Nissan are making. The all-new Elgrand will be unveiled, the fourth-generation of the model that spent 30 years in production. Currently set for only the Japanese market, this will feature in 2026 the third-generation e-POWER technology, and will offer an ultra-efficient minivan experience that remains a niche market. Europe gets a new Micra, the compact new Roox Kei series will appear, and the all-capable Patrol SUV will complete a full spectrum of future Nissan models for a variety of different markets.
As well as Vehicle-to-Load we have Vehicle-to-Home, where the reality of our cars powering our homes seems about to be unleashed. The Re:Imagine strategy to modernize Nissan by 2030, mirrored by many other manufacturers, seems more ambitious and diverse than many others can muster the courage to show.
