When the Nissan 300ZX went on sale in the USA in 1990, it was as popular as free popcorn at a screening of Home Alone. But after the initial sales boom, interest started waning, sales slowed down, and Nissan started looking at ways to create some new interest. After achieving some success with previous-generation Z convertible models, Nissan’s product planners decided to cut the roof off the Z32 model, and offer a limited-edition cabriolet.
