The Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be a rousing success for Nintendo, with the company remaining confident that it can meet its goal of 19 million unit sales by the end of Q4. Nintendo’s current fiscal year ends at the end of March, which gives it two more months to meet its goal that was set last year.
Nintendo previously reported back on November 4 that it was setting a goal to sell 19 million Switch 2 units by the end of the current fiscal year. It had initially forecast that it would sell around 15 million units by the end of the fiscal year. So, it’s doing quite well considering it has already surpassed that mark. Thankfully for Nintendo, at the end of Q3, which ended in December, it had another good month. This has helped to set it up for a successful fiscal year overall, where the Nintendo Switch 2 is concerned.
Nintendo Switch 2 Q4 sales are on track to meet or exceed 19 million units
Nintendo is keeping with its forecast that it will sell 19 million units by the end of the current quarter. Since this ends at the end of March, Nintendo has two more months of sales to reach this forecast target. It doesn’t necessarily have to go far. According to recent reports from the company, it has already surpassed 17 million units. That means it would need to do about 2 million more between now and March 31.
For its third quarter, which ended on December 31, 2025, Nintendo says it made about 806.32 billion Japanese yen in revenue. The company estimated that it would make about 847.73 billion yen, so it was below the estimation. However, it was still above the revenue brought in at the same time in the previous year. Nintendo says revenue increased 86% year-over-year. When it comes to profit, this saw an increase as well. Nintendo reports a 24% profit increase year-over-year, with a total of 159.93 billion yen in profit compared to its estimation of 147.3 billion yen.
Both its revenue and profit were helped by sales of games. Donkey Kong Bananza sold about 4.25 million units, while Mario Kart World recorded a whopping 14 million units. These figures are based on the amount sold since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June of last year. However, they also drove sales of Nintendo Switch 2 units. This helped Nintendo get closer to its forecast for 19 million units by the end of this fiscal year.
