If you live in the US and enjoy streaming your favorite movies or series on Netflix, you’ll have to pay a few extra dollars in the coming days. Last week, the video streaming giant announced that it is increasing the prices of all its plans. As a result, the Standard plan (with ads) now costs $8.99 per month. Whereas the most expensive Premium plan jumps $2 per month to $26.99 per month. That said, if you are a T-Mobile customer, the good news is that the carrier will shield you from the latest Netflix price hike, at least for the base plan.
T-Mobile keeps “Netflix on Us” Standard plan free despite the price hike
Earlier today, The Mobile Report reported that “Netflix on Us” users will continue to get the Standard plan with ads at no extra cost. The confirmation reportedly came directly from T-Mobile. However, if you’ve upgraded to the ad-free Standard or Premium plans, the new rates will apply.
According to T-Mobile’s latest fee breakdown, Netflix’s Standard without ads increases from $11 to $13 per month. Whereas the Premium plan with 4K streaming will now cost $20 per month.
In other words, T-Mobile is covering the base Netflix plan with ads, costing $8.99 per month. For higher tiers, the carrier covers $6.99, leaving subscribers to pay the difference. Do note that the increased prices for all Netflix plans will roll out over the next month.
Upgrading will require you to pay more, though
Existing T-Mobile customers on higher plans should expect the increased price to appear in the following billing cycle. However, if you are on the Standard (with ads) plan, you can enjoy uninterrupted streaming without paying extra. Speaking of carriers, let’s not forget that Verizon’s myPlan Netflix and HBO Max (with ads) perk is also about to get more expensive starting this May.
