Motorola has announced its ultra-slim smartphone, the Motorola Edge 70, but with a different name. Don’t get us wrong, the phone will still be called the Motorola Edge 70 in global markets, but it’s called the Moto X70 Air in China, where it has been announced.
Motorola’s ultra-slim phone is now official, but it comes with a different name
Just to be clear, the global variant of the phone will arrive on November 5. Motorola already confirmed that, so it’s set in stone. This China launch, however, gives us the information beforehand.
Motorola has decided to throw its own ultra-slim phone to the ring with the Moto X70 Air. This smartphone measures 159.87 x 74.28 x 5.99mm, and weighs 159 grams. It is thicker than the Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air. Those two phones measure 5.8mm and 5.6mm, respectively.
Granted, the Moto X70 Air has a notably bigger battery than both of those phones. It comes with a 4,800mAh battery, compared to a 3,900mAh unit in the Galaxy S25 Edge, and a 3,149mAh battery in the iPhone Air.
It has a bigger battery than the competition from Samsung & Apple, plus it’s lighter
On top of having the biggest battery out of the bunch, the Moto X70 Air is also the lightest. It weighs 159 grams compared to 163 grams of the Galaxy S25 Edge, and the iPhone Air that weighs 165 grams.
Having said that, the phone includes a flat display with a centered display camera hole, and three cameras on the back. That display measures 6.7 inches, and it’s a 120Hz OLED panel with a 1220p+ resolution. It gets very bright at 4,500-nit peak brightness. A fingerprint scanner sits under the display.
In addition to having a 4,800mAh battery, the phone supports 68W wired, and 15W wireless charging. So it charges faster than the other two phones as well, at least via the wire. The Moto X70 Air is IP68 and IP69 certified, too.

Mid-range chip and advanced cooling
It is fueled by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and has a 3D vapor chamber for cooling. Motorola includes 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, along with 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage.
A 50-megapixel main camera is included, and it uses Samsung’s sensor. We’re not sure which one, though. There’s also an ultrawide camera on the back, a 50-megapixel unit with a 120-degree FoV. The third camera sensor is also included, but we’re unclear on the details at this point.
The device comes in Bronze Green, Gadget Gray, and Lily Pad colors, all of which you can see below. The phone is listed in China already, but its price tag hasn’t been announced.
