The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra could be on the way, and some of its specs have just surfaced. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known and reliable tipster from China. Do note that he did talk about the specs, while he did not mention the phone’s name, in specific. However, everything points to the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra.
The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip
The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra will be its name globally, allegedly, while the phone will be known as the Moto X70 Ultra in China. The tipster claims that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and feature a 1.5K OLED display.
That’s not all, though. He also mentioned a periscope telephoto camera will be used, while the phone will offer a “slim design”.That’s basically all the spec information that Digital Chat Station shared.
The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra is expected to arrive in 2026, not this year. We cannot be sure that will be its name, but it sure seems like it. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra arrived in 2024. This year, the company did not release the Edge 60 Ultra.
In other words, Motorola did not release a phone that is anywhere close to competing with flagships from its competitors, at least not a regular, slab phone. The company’s flip foldable did arrive, but that’s another story entirely.
In any case, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra was fueled by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which was a powerful chip, but not the best Qualcomm has to offer. It seems like Motorola is going in the same direction with this smartphone.
If you’ve hoped for a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, well… that’s not happening here
The alleged Motorola Edge 70 Ultra will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. That chip hasn’t even been announced yet, but it will be inferior to both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, based on what we’ve seen thus far.
That chip actually surfaced on Geekbench, and is tied to the Motorola XT2603-1. That seems to be the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, the phone we talked about here. You can see the listing below.
