Soon after the Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power renders surfaced, the company officially announced both smartphones. This was a rather silent launch, as the press release popped up on the company’s website. That press release is also not exactly overly detailed and contains a single image in it.
The Motorola Moto G17 & Moto G17 Power budget phones are official
The Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power are the company’s new budget offerings. The ‘Power’ model does come with a larger battery, but the two phones look basically the same from the front and back, as you can see below.
Both of them have a flat display with a centered display camera hole and the “chin” below the display. The other three bezels are of the same thickness, it seems, or at least close to it. The power/lock and volume rocker buttons sit on the right side, those are the only buttons on the phone.
The back, you’ll notice a vegan leather backplate, which covers the entire back side, including the camera island. That camera island sits in the top-left corner. Motorola says that these phones are “designed for users who want technology that keeps up with their creativity, their pace, and their style.”
They have the same camera setups, but the ‘Power’ has a larger battery
A 50-megapixel main camera has been confirmed, and Motorola is using Sony’s LYTIA 600 camera sensor here. That camera is backed by a 5-megapixel ultrawide unit and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
MediaTek’s Helio G81 processor fuels these two smartphones. The regular model comes with a 5,200mAh battery, while the ‘Power’ includes a 6,000mAh unit. TurboPower charging is also on offer here.
Motorola also mentioned a fullHD+ display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The two phones also offer “advanced audio systems that offers 200% more powerful sound with Volume Boost, the devices’ stereo sound enhanced by Dolby Atmos delivers a cinematic experience whether users are streaming, editing, or simply scrolling”.
Three Pantone-curated colors are on offer
The Motorola Moto G17 and G17 Power come in Evening Blue, Alaskan Blue, Tarmac and Bordeaux colors. Those are three Pantone-curated colors at your disposal. Hello UX, Moto Secure, Gestures, and all the other Motorola tools you like are included in the software.
That’s unfortunately all the information that Motorola released. We did not get a more detailed spec sheet or anything like that. The Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power have started arriving in select markets across EMEA at this point.
