Popular smartphone carrier Mint Mobile is gearing up to foray into the home internet space, with a new 5G Home service, called ‘Minternet’. This can be big news for those looking to cut the traditional ISP. However, the plan details and prices are not out yet. If this sounds interesting to you, head over to the Mint website and sign up to join the waiting list.
‘Minternet’ is Mint Mobile’s new home internet service
In a sponsored ad on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ryan Reynolds, the spokesperson and former partial owner of Mint Mobile, walks in to find Guillermo taking over as the spokesperson to drop the new announcement. He announces that Mint Mobile’s 5G Home, “Minternet is coming soon.” As said, you can currently only sign up to get notified when the service formally launches.
Although the technical details of the Minternet are scarce at the moment, it certainly raises curiosity among those looking for a new home internet option, especially considering Mint Mobile’s aggressive pricing attitude.
Details about the service are not out yet
What makes this an interesting development is that Mint Mobile is an MVNO that runs on T-Mobile’s network. T-Mobile has its own 5G Home internet service that’s quite popular. It’s possible that Mint Mobile may be piggybacking off the same T-Mobile network for its Minternet service. From what it looks like, it could be a rebranded version of T-Mobile’s service.
What this means for consumers is that they’ll get access to T-Mobile’s robust 5G network, but with Mint’s aggressive pricing, that should be within everyone’s reach. For now, Mint has us curious about its upcoming home internet service.
