Everything is an Xbox these days, it feels like, and that now includes the Meta Quest 3S VR headset. On June 24, Microsoft’s Xbox team and Meta jointly announced the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition. While this is the same functionality-wise as the regular Meta Quest 3S headset, it does come in a unique black colorway, and it has some special bonuses that are included. Both Xbox and Meta have been very clear that this is an extremely limited edition headset, as well. That means there are going to be fewer units available for potential buyers. That being said, you’ll probably want to pick one up as soon as you can if you’re interested.
The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition comes with a few perks
If there’s any reason to get this model of the Quest 3S over the original model, it’s the perks. However, it’s also important to note the distinction between this version of the headset and the regular model. For instance, the regular Quest 3S starts at $299. This model is $100 more. For that extra money, consumers are getting a 90-day Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial and a limited edition Xbox Wireless controller. The bundle also comes with a 90-day trial of Meta Horizon+. Lastly, this bundle includes the Elite strap.
When you tally up the dollar amount of all those perks, save for Meta Horizon+ because that comes with the regular model too, you end up at about $195. The Elite Strap is $69.99, Xbox wireless controllers usually run about $64.99, and the Game Pass Ultimate membership fee over 90 days is $60. The point is, if you bought all these things with the $299 regular Quest 3S, you’d be spending about $499. So, you do save some money here. Having said that, the regular Quest 3S at $399 comes with 256GB of storage, whereas the Xbox Edition comes with 128GB. Basically, there’s a trade-off. You can opt for the extras or the additional storage if you’re looking to spend around $399 for an arguably great VR experience. You can buy this headset directly from Meta.
