After plenty of teases, Oakley and Meta have made it Instagram official. Now, you can get Meta’s smart glasses in another brand, other than just Ray-Ban. The Oakley Meta HSTN is the first Oakley Meta product, and it offers some nice upgrades over their Ray-Ban sibling.
The new Oakley Meta HSTN will offer 3K video for capturing all of the action, thanks to the new built-in higher-resolution camera. Of course, it also has the integrated open-ear speakers included in the frames.
These new glasses also get a pretty substantial bump in battery life, up to 8 hours of use, according to Meta, and up to 19 hours of standby, with the increased battery stamina here. The glasses case can power the Oakley meta HSTN for about 48 hours on the go.
Finally, Meta AI is here as well. So you can ask Meta AI for the wind speed while golfing, or ask it to translate a sign or menu, among other things.
This is all part of Meta’s continuing partnership with EssilorLuxottica, which is the company behind brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley.
The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available later this Summer, starting at $399
Meta says that the first pair of glasses is a limited edition Oakley Meta HSTN, which marks 50 years of Oakley design, with gold accents and 24K PRIZM polarized lenses. This model will be available for pre-order beginning on July 11, for $499.
The rest of the Oakley Meta HSTN collection will be available later this Summer, starting at $399. And it will include six frames and lens color combos, all of which can be used with a prescription.
