Mercedes-Benz signed a 60,000-square-foot lease at Northyards Business Park for its new research and development facility. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the company plans to spend $34 million on the new facility.
The space, located inside buildings 200 and 300 at 384 Northyards Blvd., is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
Mercedes-Benz is expected to bring 500 workers to the Atlanta area, between its Sandy Springs headquarters and the R&D facility. Approximately 160 employees will be based at Northyards. Some technical teams will move from other locations.
The technology center will be the company’s seventh research and development (R&D) location in the U.S.
An affiliate of MetLife Investment Management owns Northyards. It paid $63.4 million for the 17-acre site in 2016. Other tenants include the Gathering Spot and Pinnacle Financial Partners.
Partners Real Estate represented MetLife in the lease transaction, and Cushman & Wakefield represented Mercedes-Benz.
