Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-electric version of its best-selling SUV globally, the GLC EQ 400 4Matic. At first glance, the GLC EQ closely resembles its internal combustion sibling, which is wise—why fix something that isn’t broken? Even before the 2027 GLC makes its official debut, Mercedes-Benz faces stiff competition, as BMW just revealed the new iX3. Here’s a look at the top five features in the new GLC EQ. Will they be enough to keep the competition at bay? We’ll soon find out.
1. MBUX Superscreen: Largest Display Ever in a Mercedes
The GLC EQ sports a pillar-to-pillar 39-inch MBUX Superscreen, which is an optional feature. The Superscreen consists of three separate displays—a 10.3-inch instrument cluster, a 14-inch central display and a 14-inch passenger display. The third screen is accessible and functional to the passenger while the vehicle is on the go, but if a camera detects the driver looking at the display, then it is automatically dimmed. The base version of the GLC EV is not equipped with the third touchscreen on the passenger side.
2. Battery Specs and Driving Range
The GLC EQ is built on Mercedes’ new MB.EV platform, featuring fast charging capabilities thanks to its 800V electrical architecture. According to Mercedes-Benz, the 94 kWh NMC battery in the GLC 400 4Matic can restore up to 186 miles of range with a 10-minute charge, per WLTP testing. It can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes and offers a total driving range of 355 to 435 miles on a single charge, depending on the variant. The vehicle supports high-speed DC charging up to 330 kW. For added flexibility, a market-specific DC converter allows owners to use 400-volt fast chargers as well.

4. Bold Design Statement
The GLC EQ’s illuminated grille, with 942 twinkling dots, redefines Mercedes’ iconic front end with futuristic flair. Mercedes-Benz has balanced the GLC’s design with bold additions that create a futuristic look while preserving its core DNA. The massive enclosed grille swaps traditional function for a high-tech aesthetic, making a statement with its chrome frame, smoked-glass mesh, and 942 twinkling polycarbonate dots in the optional illuminated version. The side profile stays true to GLC design principles with chrome trim, a panoramic roof, and flush door handles. The rear features new star-shaped taillights that echo the LED DRLs in the headlights, paired with a two-piece spoiler. The GLC EQ achieves a 0.26 drag coefficient, significantly boosting efficiency.
 5. Fully Animal-Free Interior
Mercedes-Benz has become the world’s first automaker to offer a fully vegan-certified interior, verified by The Vegan Society. The new Vegan Package, debuting in the GLC EQ, covers all key touchpoints—from seat upholstery and steering wheel covers to headliners, pillars, door trims, carpets, and even the cargo area. Made using high-quality Artico leatherette and sustainable textiles, the package ensures no animal-derived materials are used at any production stage. Many components also incorporate recycled content, reinforcing Mercedes’ sustainability commitment. The Vegan Package will launch with the GLC configurator, with additional models to follow.
