ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia has finally announced its much-awaited Air smartphone. The biggest highlight of the new Nubia phone is its super slim body that’s just 6.7mm thin. Nubia claims that the thinnest point of the Air is its midframe that measures just 5.9mm around the waist, which is just 0.1mm thicker than Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Edge.
Nubia’s product page for the phone mentions “the measured thickness of the device refers to the thinnest part of the middle frame.” However, the actual dimensions of the phone may vary due to differences in production processes and measurement methods.
Nubia’s Air is a lightweight offering with an IP69K rating
Apart from offering a slim body, the Nubia Air is also quite lightweight, tipping the scales at 172 grams, making it just 9 grams heavier than the Galaxy S26 Edge. Design-wise, the phone appears similar to the leaked design of Apple’s first Air-branded iPhone. The design includes three lenses and an LED flash unit, all positioned within a rectangular island that extends from the top to the right edge.
On the front, the Nubia Air has an edge-to-edge display, featuring highly narrow bezels on all four sides. There’s a punch hole cutout on top of the screen to house the selfie camera, while a fingerprint sensor sits at the bottom below the display. Notably, the phone is IP68 and IP69K rated for protection against dust and pressurized water jets.
A 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, dual rear cameras, and a beefy battery are also in tow
Nubia has fitted its latest smartphone with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that features a resolution of 1,224 x 2,720 pixels. The screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. A Unisoc T8300 processor powers the phone, supported by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage.
As for the other specs, the Air has a 50-megapixel primary camera. There’s also a 2MP depth sensor and a 0.08MP auxiliary depth lens. For selfies, Nubia has equipped the handset with a 20MP shooter on the front. It’s worth mentioning that Nubia has managed to fit a beefy 5,000mAh battery inside such a slim phone, which offers 33W fast charging.
Nubia has priced the Air quite affordably at just $279. The phone comes in Titanium Black, Streamer Black, and Titanium Desert color variants. Nubia will first start selling the device in Europe later this month, with a global rollout at a later date.
