McLaren announced last year that they’re joining the huge crop of competitors in the top tier of endurance racing. It will be entering the WEC in 2027 in an attempt to win that championship as well as its most famous event, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. McLaren won’t only build a race car, though. It also revealed that it will build a version for private owners to use as a track-day special. Details were scarce at the announcement, but Australian publication Drive managed to get a few more when McLaren showed its race car Down Under, the most interesting of which had to do with the powertrain.
