In its efforts to keep building gas-powered cars but still reduce emissions, Mazda has just announced new tech that’s even wilder than its rotary engines. The Japanese automaker that won’t stop trying to make Wankel happen is now looking at capturing CO2 directly from the engine as you drive. It said the captured carbon can then be used for things like crop growth or to make “high-performance carbon materials.
