A new affordable housing project is planned for Southeast Portland.
Upright Development Works, a Portland-based developer, is looking to build a seven-story, 71-unit apartment project at 3314 S.E. Powell Blvd. The company is set to meet with the city of Portland to discuss the proposal before submitting for permits, reported the Portland Business Journal.
The Dawn apartments will be for households making between 60% and 80% of the area’s median income. The building will use mass-timber for construction and be comprised of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The building will also have 22 parking spaces and around 2,000 square feet of commercial space that will be used as a food hall.
Upright Development Works’ building design will use sustainable energy systems, including radiant floor heating and cooling. Rooftop solar panels will also be used to power the common areas. The firm is also looking to bring more housing developments to the Portland metro using mass timber construction.
