In the never-ending search for profits, automakers have been known to blur boundaries. Every automaker wishes it could only produce gorgeous, high-margin sports cars, sedans, and SUVs and rake in the cash, but that’s not realistic. Alternatively, sometimes the automakers that do produce these high-value models need to sell something cheaper to keep the books in the black. One sees automakers punching up, and the other punching down, and while there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that, the result hasn’t always been stellar.
